480v Outlets

480v Outlets

Hello,

I am having three 480V outlets installed but due to power limitations only one of these outlets can be used at a time.  Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to ensure that we use only one at a time?  Thank you!

RE: 480v Outlets

Use different configurations. Use one configuration for the outlets and another for the utilization equipment. Supply only one adapter.
I am away from home and can't look up specific devices but at 120?208 I would consider using twist-lock receptacles and straight blade cord ends on the equipment. Then supply only one adapter cord to go from twist-lock to straight blade.
Another option is to have a breaker panel with three breakers.  Mount a slide bar on the front of the panel with notches to fit the breaker handles. Space the notches so that when an breaker is turned on, the handle fits into a notch and the bar prevents any other breaker from being turned on. If approvals are required, consult with a panel builder who has supplied breaker based bypass panels for UPS installations.

Thank you for those suggestions!

RE: 480v Outlets

This is what "Kirk Key Interlocks" are for as well. 3 locks, one key and the key cannot be removed if the lock is unlocked so you can never unlock more than one at a time.
