monitoring on 2way infra-red sensor

monitoring on 2way infra-red sensor

(OP)
need ideas to modify on hardware board.using 240 2way infra-red sensors leaving it on for 24hrs,need idea for monitoring them to check or know when they are spoilt.sensors are connected to a 8051 mircocontroller (having 4ports,1 port 8inputs) via port0,combining use of matrix switch and decoder to link all sensors to send signal to one port, therefore one column consists of 8sensors.another 12inputs (port 1 to port 2.3) are connected to a 74ls145 IC to select row of sensors to be used.port 3 is connected to max202IC for communication to industrial PC. Problem: How to monitor on the sensors or how to know when they are spoilt, should modify program (assembly language) or add new hardware or ICs to sensor board's input or output or any better suggestions.Sensor sends out a logic low signal if emitter signal is blocked or receiver is blocked. IF sensor is selected, a logic low signal is sent to the input of the sensor. glad to hear from any suggestions.THANK U !
