Editing a sketch
Editing a sketch
(OP)
Hello all,
I need to edit a simple sketch, but when I use the edit dimension tool in sketcher, it changes the dimension bar, but not the actual sketch. What am I doing wrong, sorry I know this should be a simple problem to fix. I am used to the ease of editing dimensions in CAD.
Thanks
OptiEng.

RE: Editing a sketch
If you modify a sketch of a part then it can throw all your loads etc. around. It's always best to go back to the interactions and load modules to check that everything is where it is supposed to be after editing the part. Some lines/faces may have disappeared if you picked them, and some may be just moved as the load was associated with a line number that is hidden.
I'm not sure about editing the domensions question, but it may be that you have other dimensions on the sketch that essentially fix another, or you may have constrained a point so that it can't move. Delete the other dimensions or foxed points if that is the case, but always be aware that changing a dimension can alter another line length, or point position, that you wanted to remain in place, so use the constraints and fix certain points to prevent that.

1) To create "stand alone sketch" then copy this scaling at the same time
2) Copying a whole part in the manager, but it seems you can't copy and scale an analytical rigid shell.
So other than this is there no other way of ust modifying the dimensions of the orginal sketch?
It seems strange if abaqus could not cope with this?
Thanks for you help everyone
Kind Regards
