Reboiler decontamination

Reboiler decontamination

(OP)
Hi,

In my Plant we are suffering from fouling in stripper reboilers' tube bundles. I was advised to conduct reboiler decontamination in specified interval to minimize the fouling. Please I would like from experienced engineer to advise me on this issue and what are the benefits gained form utilizing reboiler decontamination. Is there any reference to gain more information about reboiler decontamination?. Also, Is there any simple method could be used to minimize the fouling and increase the performance of stripper?.

Thanks

RE: Reboiler decontamination

Anything that can reduce either the bulk or tubewall temperature is probably going to be a bonus. This includes things like:
1) Reducing the tower pressure (if condensing not an issue)
2) Reducing heating medium temperature (if using hot oil for instance)
3) Recycling downstream tower overheads back to your tower, or adding light components which can be seperated downstream

More detail about the fouling could be useful- i.e. is this dirt, polymerization reactions, etc.

best wishes,
sshep
