difference of contact algorithm in abaqus standard and abaqus explicit

difference of contact algorithm in abaqus standard and abaqus explicit

(OP)
Hello

I want to model a cylindrical steel silo under earthquake excitation. I have modeled bulk material inside silo with drucker-prager model, I have used 8 node solid elements for modeling of materials inside silo and 4 node shell elements for modeling of silo walls and silo bottom. I have used surface to surface contact for modeling of interface between silo wall and material inside silo. I have applied gravity load in abaqus standard and I want to use abaqus explicit for applying earthquake excitation. Before performing earthquake analysis I have imported the results of gravity analysis from abaqus standard into abaqus explicit and I have continued applying gravity load but due to difference of contact algorithm in abaqus explicit and abaqus standard the stresses change in comparison with results of abaqus standard is it possible to guide me how can I solve the problem?
Please guide me what should I to make the difference minimum.

Thank you very much
Best regards

first check the documentation to see, what the difference really is

RE: difference of contact algorithm in abaqus standard and abaqus explicit

Abaqus manuals have good explanation of the differences, advantages and disadvantages of the two.  This might answer your questions. OptiEng
