make displayed part function not available

make displayed part function not available

(OP)
We have an assembly which when opened, and one of the components is right cliked on, the option for make displayed part or make work part is not there, even though we have the assemblies licence turned on. Also if you use  window and change the displayed part manually to be a component, if we right click on it in the ANT, normally you would get the option to "display parent" amongst other, but all we get is a single choice of "properties".... Any ideas? I've not seen it before.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

RE: make displayed part function not available

The most likely explanation is that it is a child of a subassembly containing a loaded reference set which excludes that component. Changing the reference set of the parent to emtire part fixes this problem. Not having reference sets in assembly parts can be an even better idea.

Failing that check that the displayed reference set of the component itself isn't set to empty. In either case the main symptom would be grey ticks alonside their nodes in the ANT. If the ticks are red then I'd suggest some other problem is afoot. If so on a repeatable basis try reopening the lot with partial loading turned off, not that I could specifically say why but changing your load options settings just seems like the only other thing that might be have and effect.
