Muting Light Curtians

(OP)
Hi members,

I need to bypass the muting light curtains and be able to operate the conveyor in reverse to get the pallet out of the cell in cases where the pallet stops in the muting area.

Does anyone know what the standard allows and is there any recommendations on how to wire this bypass? thanks in advance.

RE: Muting Light Curtians

Check out ANSI/RIA R15 06-1999.  I believe this is called maintenance mode.  You'll probably be able to meet the requirements as long as the conveyor moves slowly enough (Section 4.9 Slow speed control - 10 inch/sec).  If the operator is within 0.45m of the motion they'll need their own E-stop button.

Devil's advocate - why does an operator need to be in the restricted area to reverse the conveyor?
