For one of the Boiler ( of capacity 70T/Hr), the Trisoidum phosphate dosing pump capacity is calculated by the boiler vendor based on the 100% evaporation rate + the Blowdown rate. After arriving at the phosphate dosing rate as above , the vendor doubles the above value x 2 considering the 100% sludge loss. Is the phosphate dosing package design to be done on the above grounds.

On clarification with the Boiler vendor, it is clarified that Calculations are based on Start up and operating conditions. During start up total evaporation of the boiler is to be considered in calculations and during normal operation only boiler blow down quantity is to be considered for calculations.

Is the above justification is correct? Because if the dosing package is designed based on the boiler blowdown quantity alone the dosing pump capacity works out to 1 lit/hr where as if we go by boiler vendor calculations it works out to 26 lit /hr .

Thanks to clarify which is the correct method.

How much condensate is returned? If you essentially get 100% of the condensate back, then your water treatment requirements are peanuts. If you don't get any condensate back, then the requirements will be FAR more.

At the end of the day, just run a test on a boiler water sample. That's really the ONLY way to tell what's going on...
