Angled/Slanted Inlet

Angled/Slanted Inlet

I am trying to add a slanted/angled inlet on my part.  It is a hot dog shaped inlet. Is there an easy way to do this?

RE: Angled/Slanted Inlet

There probably is an easy way to do it, but we need more info.  Can you post a pic?

I basically have a pipe with a wall thickness of .25"  I want to put a slanted (~45 deg.) hot dog shaped inlet/hole through the pipe on two sides 180 deg from eachother. I've messed around with trying to chamfer the edges of the hole but it chamfers the whole thing.  I hope this helps to explain my situation a little better. Thanks for your help.

RE: Angled/Slanted Inlet

Still not seeing it.  Not sure what a "slanted hot dog shaped hole" looks like.  Try deselecting "tangent propagation" in your chamfer feature though... then it won't chamfer the whole thing.

To be of some more assistance.  When attempting to model some sort of cut operation, it is often useful to envision how the part will be cut in the real world.  Then base your modeling feature on that real world operation.

Hot dog shape (cooked ?) = a curved slot?

How are you selecting the edge to be chamfered? Try right clicking the edge and Select Loop.

RE: Angled/Slanted Inlet

Create a new plane at the required angle off the part somewhere, hot dog your sketch on the plane, extrude your dog thru the part.

It sounds like you need a sweep or a loft.  I hope this helps.

Are we talking about a classic Chi-dog (drag it through the garden!) or a Maxwell Street Polish?

I was envisioning a Weinerschnitzel hotdog, but I am a California kid.
