Welding threaded fittings to sch 10 316 ss pipe
Welding threaded fittings to sch 10 316 ss pipe
(OP)
Hello
We are replacing the condensate return line in our dry kilns with sch 10 ss pipe and I am wondering if we will have problems stick welding the threaded fittings for the coil drains to the pipe. My concern is the difference in material thickness between the fitting and the pipe.
We have 1/8" Avesta 309L rod onsite; would this rod be appropriate for the application? I am thinking that 1/8" would be rather large for the sch 10 pipe.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

Don't attempt to calculate a number. Some guys can weld foil at 250A, some can blow through cannon barrels at 20A.
Just caution the welders.

I had a feeling that would be the case as 1/8" seamed a bit big. I apprecitate your help.
Thank You
