Pump Piping
Pump Piping
(OP)
For the Top suction- Top Discharge bb2 pumps , the discharge piping arrangement proposed is as enclosed. We have two pumps installed. The discharge piping ( green coloured) is purposely brought down and then taken back to the system only to facilitate discharge valves operation from the grade level. There is an apprehension that this sort of arrangement will hamper the pump performance / efficiency . We have high point vents in the pump as well as the piping. Please confirm whether the apprehension is valid. These pumps are for a refinery plant pumping hydrocarbons.

RE: Pump Piping
If green was suction, it might be a different story.

RE: Pump Piping
You could easily calculate the pressure drop for these extra components and put everyones mind at eas by showing the actual losses of the routing you show versus a routing straight across (which will be a nuicance to maintain).
As biginch states it should be no issue from the pump perspective.
A question properly stated is a problem half solved.
