Cannot complete study on viscoelastic material compression
Cannot complete study on viscoelastic material compression
(OP)
Hi all, I'm trying to model the compression of a 0.1"x1.5"x1.5" pad which is made out of a viscoelastic material. I'm using the viscoelastic material model and have (i believe) created a correct material using relaxation data. The pad undergoes a simple compression of about 40 psi over the course of a minute. the problem is that about 1/3 of the way through running the study, the simulation crashes. I get the following error:
Solution failure in a Step>1, it could be due to: The solution may be at a buckling or limit point, i.e., displacements grow large under constant forces. Iterations not converging: o Raise the convergence tolerance slightly(Last resort)
But there's very little displacement occurring - I might as well do a nonlinear study. Has anyone encountered this problem or know if I'm doing something wrong? I can't find anything on the web about convergence tolerance...
