Large planes

Large planes

Large planes

(OP)
09, SP 5.0.

I have a couple assemblies that I have been working on for a few weeks without issues.
Suddenly, yesterday and today the front and top planes got too big to where I can't see the assy. The plane resizing also was translated to the part I was editing.
I can not move or resize. My VAR also tried. They can fix it in 2010, but not 2009.
Anyone see this or know of a trick to fix it?

RE: Large planes

What was the fix in SW2010?

Are you sure there is no errant sketch entity or ref point or ???

Oversize axis?

Has the Autosize option been selected?

RE: Large planes

(OP)
Yes, fix in '10.
We checked (us and our VAR), no errant sketches, point, etc.
No oversize anything. When I selected the Autosize opt, it got worse.
Weird.
It is being sent to SW for review.

RE: Large planes

I had something like this happen a few years ago and (IIRC) it turned out to be something inadvertantly offset a large amount or some such; like CorB is suggesting.

Perhaps like entering a number followed by some zeros before the decimal point when you actually meant after the decimal point.....stuff happens.

Took a long time to find it, as it did not show up even as  a mere speck when the whole a'y was viewed and the a'y itself was so small as to be almost invisible.

If this sounds like it could be something that happened in your a'y or part, you might try looking at your assembly or part from all the basic views and see if you can "corner" the culprit by observing where the assembly or part is in each model view. Then try zooming in to the opposite corner (where it might be), or Select a window and keep zooming in to capture it.

Not sure if turning on a grid would help, but might be worth trying.

RE: Large planes

..that is, if you can see your a'y at all

RE: Large planes

Does a'y = assembly?

RE: Large planes

Aye!  Me thinks it does.

RE: Large planes

something else to try that might be a quick fix.....

If the part that's causing the problem can be deleted from the feature tree while the main a'y (assembly) is opened, and the a'y is now visible via zooming, then the offending part can re-made from scratch; assuming it's not overly complicated.

If that procedure doesn't change anything, then the a'y is the problem.

In either case, if nothing changes, you can quit the a'y without having made the deletion permanent.

RE: Large planes

I can't delete the part and start over. It is full of offsets from another part within the assy.

Dan,
All planes are hidden. The planes that I'm having this issue with are the main Front/Top/Right planes.
Other planes that I have created have not problems.

My VAR had the same problem when I sent the assy to them. They can't fix it. Have to wait to hear back from the SW guys.

RE: Large planes

We found that one of the sketches was in the proper place, but somewhat of a ghost image of it was out in space constrained to 'something'.
We rolled back to this feature, deleted the extrusion and sketch, then started over from this point.
Very weird.
I'm still waiting to hear from SW to what may have caused this to happen.
