Customize view popup menu in NX5 & NX6

Customize view popup menu in NX5 & NX6

(OP)
I have two questions on toolbar/menu customization,
1)In NX4 if I goto Tools->Customize, I used to get two dialog boxes one is "Customize" and another is "View popup" dialog/menu, so that I can add commands to View popup menu. I am not seeing this menu (View popup) in NX5 and NX6.

2) In drafting, after right clicking (MB3) an annotation, "Orign" (origin tool) command was listed in MB3 menu in NX5, which is missing in NX6. Can we add this origin command back to MB3 menu of annotation?

RE: Customize view popup menu in NX5 & NX6

When you enter 'Customize', go to the bottom of the list of items on the 'Toolbar' tab and toggle ON the 'View Popup' item and the Popup Dialog will appear allowing you to edit it.  If you leave this toggled ON when you leave Customize, it will automatically appear the next time you enter Customize.

As for the 'Origin' option on the Annotation Popup, the Origin options have been added to the Creation/Edit dialog so if you select 'Edit' you will find the origin tools there.

Thanks John.
One extra click to reach the origin tool :(

RE: Customize view popup menu in NX5 & NX6

You have to understand that one of the 'guidelines' in the new User Interface 'style guide', adopted with the release of NX 5.0, states that whenever possible, Create and Edit dialogs should be the same, or very close to the same, in both appearance AND behavior.  Now this has been pretty much the way Modeling dialogs have been for some time, even before the NX 5.0 UI update, however Drafting has just recently started to update their dialogs to comply with the new 'style guide' and this is just one of those cases.

If you recall, prior to NX 6.0, when you were creating a Note or Label and you wanted to change the Origin settings, you had to go to a totally different Toolbar and open a SEPARATE dialog, 'Origin Preferences', to make any changes in the origin settings.  However starting with NX 6.0 the Origin tools were added to the Annotation dialog making it much easier to change the Origin settings during the actual creation of your Notes and/or Labels.  And now since we have included the Origin tools with Creation, users now expect them to be there during Editing as well.

But after MB3 annotation->Edit... does not offer me "Offset Charatcter" option of Origin tool (Of course it gives all other options of origin tool). For that, again I need to click 'Origin tool' button in that dialog.

John

Thanks for your tip, using MB3 is a good idea and more faster to select 'edit' command.

Best regards

Tom
