how to send a surface to CAM

how to send a surface to CAM

how to send a surface to CAM

(OP)
Hello,

Because data exprot some 3D surfaces were lost,
I hafe created them with, the option of N surfaces in
surfaces module.

Now, I have a problem. Because this fixed side, it can't be selected on NX CAM module, so I can't machine it on CAM module...

It puts an error, that "this surface dosen't belong to the part body"...

I attach you an image.

What options, can I use to attach this surface to the 3D part an select it on CAM module without any problem??

Thanks.

RE: how to send a surface to CAM

Try to unite them with the part body?

Hi Micky,

Yes something like that, try to link them with the 3D part body. Because without the blue surface, I can't select anything, this side is blank...

With the blue surface, I can select but CAM module tolds me that isn't a part body...

So imputs an error, that can't be machined.

Thanks.

RE: how to send a surface to CAM

You applied it afterwards that N-surface, have you add it to the reference set solid (or model)?

Hi Micky,

I have the model but some bodies were lost, so I have created N-surfaces but this surfaces can't be used on NX CAM module.

I want to know, how can I link this N-surfaces or another option, to select this surfaces and machine them on NX CAM module.

RE: how to send a surface to CAM

Sew the surfaces together before you open it in the CAM module. If all the surfaces enclose a volume (watertight), the sew operation will result in a solid body. If the surface sews to the others but you are left with sheet body(ies) you have other problems to fix first.

RE: how to send a surface to CAM

If I understand the situation, you should be able to select your new surfaces as part - just add them to what is already selected.

Yeah if you select a solid body as your part you will have to add the sheet or sheets you created to your part in you operation.
