Steam compressor availability

Steam compressor availability

(OP)
I am interested in compressing steam from 5 psig to 80 psig.  The capacity would need to be roughly 5000 pounds per hour.  Does anyone have any experience doing this?  Are there commercially available steam compressors for this application?

RE: Steam compressor availability

?? Why on earth you want to do that? From an energetic point of view it cost lest energy to generate the steam in a boiler at the desired pressure.

RE: Steam compressor availability

If you have very high pressure steam available (I mean a lot more than 150-200 PSI), a thermocompressor may be a possibility.  They are used more often to compress steam from near atmospheric pressure to ~15 PSIG, using 150-200 PSIG motive steam.  Commonly used on evaporators or in paper industry.  I haven't heard of using them up to 80 PSIG discharge pressure.
