Felexible Mechanical Calculation
Felexible Mechanical Calculation
(OP)
Hi
I have a project about Flexible Mechanical Calculation.
I have a problem. As you know due to effect of 2 or 3 phase short circuit fault on main conductors applies tensile forces. Now you suppose a span which have only 1 conductor. In the usual situation it carries 150 ampers. suddenly a 1 phase short circuit accure and 10 KA flow in the conductor. do you think that this fault produce any tensile force?
Thanks alot.

RE: Felexible Mechanical Calculation
Have a look at this site for busbars used as conductors.
Its not clear from your post whether your refering to busbars or a cable.
You might not have any problems due to magnetic forces caused by short circuit currents, but you will have temperature rise issues and expansion issues.

RE: Felexible Mechanical Calculation
The force depends on the distance between the current in the bus conductor and the return current. Where is the return current if there is only one bus conductor?
