CAM work piece material incorrectly seen by feeds and speeds

CAM work piece material incorrectly seen by feeds and speeds

CAM work piece material incorrectly seen by feeds and speeds

(OP)
I am customizing our data files and templates to automate our CAM programming.I have encountered a problem automating our feeds and speeds. NX is not seeing the correct work piece material from an NX generated setup file.

Even thought the work piece in the template part is set to aluminum and even thought it appears to copy to the setup part correctly, it must be re-set to aluminum in the setup part before the feeds and speeds can be retrieved from the machine data file.

Without doing so, the error message indicates that no entry has been found for the current combination of tool size, tool material, work piece material and cut method. Yet if I inspect these values I am able to find a matching entry in the machining_data.dat file.

However if I reset the work piece material from aluminum to aluminum it nows is able to find the feeds and speeds. How can I resolve this?

Thanks

Please report this to GTAC so they can check it out, and log a problem report if needed.
Thanks

RE: CAM work piece material incorrectly seen by feeds and speeds

This appears to have been a local problem with my template file.

There was something funny about my workpiece object in my template file. I replaced it with a new one and now it works fine. I have no idea why the original workpiece object required resetting of the material in order to retrieve the feeds and speeds.

I did call GTAC and as as usual, they were very helpful.
