Setting Up Cylinder Assembly for Interference Check

Setting Up Cylinder Assembly for Interference Check

Setting Up Cylinder Assembly for Interference Check

(OP)
Hello all,
I have been tasked with setting up an existing assembly to check for interference during normal operation.  The assembly consists of 4 different hydraulic cylinders attached with pins to structural steel weldments.  This assembly is extending, retracting, twisting, etc.  What is the best way to do this???  I have SW2009 SP4.1 basic (not premium).  There is another machine here with premium that I can use if it willl allow me better options for performing this task.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If you go to Tools / Component / Move and turn on Collision Detection, you should be good to go.

RE: Setting Up Cylinder Assembly for Interference Check

If you need to run all combinations of these cylinders then you could make sure each cylinder has an extended and retracted configuration, then in the assembly setup two configurations: one with all cylinders retracted and another with all extended.  Then create a Design Table in this assembly using the auto-create option.  It should pick up the different configs of the cylinders.  Now it is easy to add configs in the DT where you change all the cylinder configs to cover all 16 combinations.  I do not know of a way to automate the interference check, but at least you'll have quickly made all configurations.  You do not need anything but SWX Basic to this.
