I have a SMF and SCBF used in the same direction of 3 story steel building.  It is not a dual system.  For the base shear it is obvious I have to use the least R of 6 for the base shear, but I find the wording confusing in (ASCE 7-05 12.2.3.2) for what omega should be used for design.  A value of 2 from the SCBF or 3 from the SMF.

It will correspond to the value omega for the SCBF. Others can chime in if I am interpreting this incorrectly.
