Seismic accelerations in SAP

Seismic accelerations in SAP

(OP)
Sirs:
When SAP 11 and 14 is used for Seismic Modal Analysis there is an option to recover accelerations in different nodes. Option is called "Joint output acceleration", within "show tables".
Sap presents two alternatives: Absolute and Relative accelerations. When the option is used always both alternatives gives the same value. If the joint is restrained to the soil both gives Acceleration=0.! This feature is VERY IMPORTANT because accelerations are normally used to check, for example, equipment at different heights on a building. Does anybody can explain if the SAP option is OK?  Thanks..          Capablanca

RE: Seismic accelerations in SAP

But why do you expect acceleration at a restrained node capablanca?
