Placement of a Note

Placement of a Note

Placement of a Note

(OP)
Hi,

I'm trying to specify the location for the text of a Note in my drawing.  Unfortunately, this task seems exceedingly difficult.  I can only place the text somewhere along a horizontal line, and not a bit further down where I want it.

How do I place the text where I want it?

(The continuing existence of Pro/E is making me more and more convinced that the program has some super-amazing unique feature that is an absolute must for some organizations.  And I'm eagerly looking forward to discovering what it is.)

hpon

RE: Placement of a Note

hpon, once you get Pro/E all set up the way you like it, it ends up being very powerfull.  It is especially good when you get into using family trees and its parametric features.

I will admit most of its settings are quite hard to figure out, and it takes along time to get everything set up in an efficient mannor.  You end up having to modify the config.pro quite a bit before it behaves how you want.

With your note... you can place a note anywhere you want to in Pro/E.  Do you want the note to have a leader?  If you just select free note, you can just click any location on a drawing that you want.

RE: Placement of a Note

Do you have grid snap turned on?  Turn it off.  Try using snap lines if you want a precise control of the note location.  Like most CAD programs, there are many different ways to control note placement.  It is up to the user to learn and control the software.  Do not become a slave to your ignorance.

Thank you aafuni.  Knowing that some people actually like the program makes my struggle a bit less cumbersome.  Perhaps I should be more humble and simply accept that it will take me more time to get comfortable with this tool than it ever has with several other alternatives that I have worked with in the past.

Back to the issue..  It is solved.  Choosing Free Point, did the trick I think.

Thanks again
