Section View in Assembly

Section View in Assembly

(OP)
While in an assembly, is there a way to section some parts but not others?  I saw a recent post asking this while in a drawing.... but what about in an assembly?
thanks.

RE: Section View in Assembly

I dont believe so, you know how to do a assembly section right?  i have done cut aways but actually making a new configuration and doing an extrude cut to show views before.. from there u might beable to hide items you dont want to see

thanks... gave me an idea.... I saved the assembly in another file, cut away half and brought the component I didn't want sectioned into the assembly.  That worked for what I needed.  thanks

RE: Section View in Assembly

In a drawing: Click on sect view window. Left tree of section view, scroll down to bottom and select 'More Properties'. A separate window will pop up, select tab 'Hide/Show Components'. Select components not to show.
You shade the view and rotate it within the view's window.

RE: Section View in Assembly

Toycept,
There is another easy way to do what you are asking.

When in the assembly, create a new sketch of the section that you want to remove.

When you do a 'Cut-Extrude' there is an option for cutting thru 'All components' or 'Selected Components'

Choose 'Selected Components' and make sure 'Auto-Select' is unchecked.
Now you just select all of the parts that you want sectioned with the sketch you just created. And everything you don't select will remain whole.
