Bus Bracing for 85kA

Bus Bracing for 85kA

I need formula or chart to determine the proper bracing distances for 3-phase 1/4 x 6" copper bus. Each phase has 2 bars separated by 1/4". Please dont refer me to IEEE/ANSI or UL paragraphs (as done in answer to a similar question) as I don't have access to those :(

Thank you in advance.

RE: Bus Bracing for 85kA

If you have a real need for this kind of information, you have a real need to purchase the applicable standards.  If you don't have the standards, how do you even know what questions you need to be asking?

RE: Bus Bracing for 85kA

UL 891.

RE: Bus Bracing for 85kA

There's some reference data in the Copper for Busbars published by the Copper Development Association.

Using this data doesn't guarantee you will meet code requirements - and if it did then it would likely be a old British code because it is a old British text which has been patchily updated and transcribed for the web - nor does it guarantee that your equipment will survive an 85kA fault. With that huge caveat, it's an excellent reference. If you can get hold a hard copy it's even better, although it's been out of publication for a long time.

Thank you Scotty. Oh I forgot, the separation between the phases is 3.5"
