NX3 BOM Spreadsheet

NX3 BOM Spreadsheet

NX3 BOM Spreadsheet

(OP)
Hi all. I am used to using an in-house database function to export the Bill of Materials after a job has been ballooned/detailed. I know I can export a spreadsheet with all of the attributes but am having trouble figuring out just how it's done. Could someone please help / point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

RE: NX3 BOM Spreadsheet

What you do is open your Drawing file, select the Parts List note, press MB3, select 'Export...', choose the 'File' Output Location, enter a filename, set the Format to 'Tabs between Columns' and hit OK.  Now open MS Excel, select the import external data function, then using the 'wizard', designate how the file is formated, in this case 'tab-delimited' and once finished, you'll have the Parts List data properly formatted and placed in the cells of the spreadsheet.  And you should be good to go.

Thanks John for your reply. what I have is a stand alone exec file that exports the bom to my old company's in house database. The stand alone u func uses My SQL database, and that is what directs the function to send the bom to wherever it was going. The way I am ballooning details now, they are being renamed to a detail number. I want to be able to export the same as I was but instead of going to my old company's bom, I want it to just go to a spreadsheet file. In the MYSQL database, there is a column titled ODBC OUT and it says "myoldcompanysbom". I think I need to replace this value with something to send it to an excel file.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Got it finally! I just had to do away with the stand alone ufunc and use the built in partslist and I was good to go. No more manually typing in the BOM!!!!

Thanks so much!
