multibody connector problem

multibody connector problem

multibody connector problem

(OP)
Hey,

Im trying to simulate a crash test between a 2 bodies ( a ball and a human model). I simplified all the models and everything went fine. The only problem I have is that, for the human model, i can't make the joints (hands and legs at the moment) to simulate a "free" movement. I used hinge connector to simulate that effect, but when the simulation takes place, the hands and legs are not moving. It moves with the whole human body, but not as I want it to be. I want to have the model to react as a normal human would do if you get what i mean.

Im sorry for the bad description. But if you imagine a free falling human, you'd expect all the joints to move accordingly. That's what i'm trying to simulate. But what I get at the moment is that the whole body move but there are no internal movements (the joints are stiff).

Thanks in advance.

P/s: The simulation model name is essailiaison

RE: multibody connector problem

smile Sometime, I think I should have collected all the posts like yours.

By any chance, your intention is to do a dynamic analysis instead of static? Or maybe the material density is not correct, therefore inertial effects cannot be noticed?

Yeah, it's a dynamics analysis. I have all the mechanical properties entered. I added gravity as load and even tried putting point mass on the hands. Then during the simulation, I see the trajectory of the model curbing downward but still no natural movement by body parts. They are still stiff. I also tried to delete the friction on the connector, but the result doesnt change.

P/s: I have a joke concerning your first sentence, but im guessing you are already having a good laugh at the fact that im a beginner asking typical beginner question. So I'll pass.

RE: multibody connector problem

Could you post a picture showing the model?

I apologize for my remark.

Btw: Many times people do not get helped because their description of what they are doing is not good. If you need help, you have to give simulation related details, not only what the modeling intent is but also what your model includes: procedures, element types, interactions , warning and error messages etc.
