does anyone have information on available span tables for the "double-v" bar joist? I think this was a 1950-era product by Macomber. The tag reads "C 14043" and "146VV 28". thanks in advance!

RE: Macomber double-v bar joist

The joist you are looking for can be found in the SJI 75 year steel joist manual and I believe it is 146W not VV (make more sense since SJI doesn't list VV in their joist manual).  You should be able to order this from the SJI website.

RE: Macomber double-v bar joist

Macomber produced many joists that did not correspond to the SJI. I may have a catalog at home on the double V's. It may take me a couple days to find it.

RE: Macomber double-v bar joist

jike,
This question comes up a lot.  SlideRuleEra has put together a compendeum of Macomber joist catalogs.  I wonder if you could scan them and send them over to SRE to include on his web page?

Thanks for the help! I spoke with SJI today and they said they will forward me information concerning the joist. They were familiar with the Macomber product and very helpful. It would be great to post additional Macomber information if available. I will be glad to post an attachment when I receive the information from SJI.
