How to make modifiable hose

How to make modifiable hose

How to make modifiable hose

(OP)
Hey everybody,

I'm looking for the best way to build hoses, for example for exhausting gas system or heater system with a lot of curves and in every directions.

Until now I did them with sketch (2D). It's working not so bad. But I'd like to know if there is another way, like 3D sketch for example.

Thanks in advance for your help

Didier

RE: How to make modifiable hose

NX has a Routing Application that is designed to create this type of geometry.  Have you tried Routing?

Ok I've never tried it. I always saw the electronical routing, but there is also mechanical routing.

I'm going to try that application

Thank you very much

For a flexable hose use the Spline Path option.  You can create a path through a series of points.

RE: How to make modifiable hose

I'm guessing that all you really need is a modifiable approximation of something that works. After all it may be assumed that you're designing the tube so maybe all you really need is the installed position for something that makes reasonable sense. Here I have contrived to use multiple sketches to define a path that includes a spline. The combined curve elements can then be used to create a centreline for a tube feature.

Both solutions are good. My first idea was to do like yours Hudson. But how can you change the diameter of the hose at the end for example (from 7.5mm to 12mm)?? I tried with the variational scanning application, but it doesn't seem a good solution...

To Hudson : yes it was something like that. But I wondered if there is a way to do it without to much step (sketch, radius, etc). I still didn't find to do it with Routing application.

To Frank : it's a great example. I want to do something like that. The first sketch is easy. the difficulty is to make the deformation
