Sweep in NX5 - strange results.

Sweep in NX5 - strange results.

Sweep in NX5 - strange results.

(OP)
I have been trying to extrude a simple hex shape along a path.

I'm getting a very strange result. Looks OK form a distance but the edges are not correct. All I need is for the hex section to follow the guide. I'm guessing that the problem is coming from the section options drop-down. I'm not doing anything fancy I just want the section to follow the guide curve, I've had a go at trying the different options but no luck yet..

Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?

RE: Sweep in NX5 - strange results.

2 options for you to consider:
1) for your relatively simple geometry 'sweep along guide' will work just fine
2) when you create the 'swept' feature, make sure the 'preserve shape' option is enabled (in the 'settings' section). I'm not sure why, but I could not enable the option when trying to edit your swept, I had to recreate the feature.

Oops, the file I posted is version NX6; I just noticed you are on NX5.

Thanks Cowski & Hudson.

Now I see what setting I missed on the seewp > swept options (there are so many). In the past I tended to use the sweep swept command as it is quite flexible. The Sweep along guide is not one I've used much but seems far simpler for simple geometry like a hex shaft.

Thanks again for all the advice.
