Does anyone know if I can get my hands on some load tables for Bethlehem steel joists.  Should I start with SJI?  Thanks

RE: Bethlehem steel joists

That would be a good start if Sliderule has nothing in his site about it.

RE: Bethlehem steel joists

Is this for old work? SJI has a publication; SJI 60-Year Manual and covers most joists and joist girders manufactured between 1928 and 1988.

After 88 they were standardized for function.

Bethlehem had some free tables, but their site is timing out.

These are existing joists with Bethlehem tags.  I just thought I could make my life easier by tracking down the tag numbers with old shops.  Has somebody taken over for Bethlehem or have they simply folded?

RE: Bethlehem steel joists

Extract from FORTUNE Magazine
"If you call the main number of Bethlehem Steel, and cool your mind while the polite, automated female voice on the other end tells you what to do if you know the four-digit extension of the person you want, and how to key in a name if you don't, and how to reach billing and accounts payable, you will finally hear this chilling statement: "We have no one to answer questions.""
