refractory Young's modulus needed

refractory Young's modulus needed

refractory Young's modulus needed

(OP)
We are working on a project that uses one of the Kao products. Either Kaolite or Kaocrete. I don't have the grade info yet.

Anyway, some calculations need a reasonable estimate for the Young's modulus.  The factory data ends at modulus of rupture.

thanks,

Dan T

RE: refractory Young's modulus needed

Here is some info taken from Carniglia & Barna HANDBOOK OF INDUSTRIAL REFRACTORIES TECHNOLOGY, Table XII.1 Room-Temperature Mechanical Properties of Dense Single-Phase Ceramics

Composition / MOR (kg/mm2) / Young's Mod (kg/mm2)
Al2O3 / >46 / 42,200
BeO / >28 / 40,000
MgO / 29.5 / 32,300
ZrO2 / > 25 / 25,000
MgAl2O4 / 22.5 / 29,500
Al6Si2O13 / 17.5 / 17,600
Mg2SiO4 / 14 / 17,600
ZrSiO4 / 14 / 14,000
B4C / >35 / 45,700
SiC / 42 / 49,200
AlN / 28 / 35,200
BN / 12.6 / 10,500

RE: refractory Young's modulus needed

But most refractory systems are not solid (monlithic).  In those cases the functional modulus is well below the material property values.
