part to fit surface contour

part to fit surface contour

part to fit surface contour

(OP)
So I have a model of an object that was scanned to get a solid file......although it looks like it's mainly surfaces.  I want to create a solid part of a specific outline that fits right up against one of the contours.  I've been able to project a sketch where I want the part to fit using a split line...but really have no idea what I'm doing.  I thought I could use some of the mold making features...but run into problems with the draft checking and such due to the shape of my original part.  Maybe that's the direction I need to continue to go...but figured I would see if any body could give me a HINT????

oooohhh....I think I figured something out.  Extruding up to a body seems to do it.

RE: part to fit surface contour

If you can post the part, you will get more specific answers.

RE: part to fit surface contour

Posting the part works.  Extruding up to a body/surface works.  You can also offset the surface at zero or whatever other distance you want.  With that, you can use that surface to cut a solid, or do all sorts of other things.
