Sheet metal question

Sheet metal question

Sheet metal question

(OP)
I need to add flanges to a flat sheet that are 44° from the horizontal.  I have created a plane 1.6875 above and parallel to the flat sheet where the flanges should end.  I am suprised that I only have the option of BLIND and VERTEX for the length of the flange.  Is there a way to say take it the plane above (extend until it intersects the plane)?  Using BLIND I would need to figure out the length of the leg and I do not see VERTEX as being an option.

Suggestions welcome.

BB

RE: Sheet metal question

After a quickly trying out what you described, the easiest way I see to achieve your desired solution is create the flange with a blind length, then cut off the excess.  Cut it with a sketch on the side profile, so you can dimension the distance of the vertex from the base surface.

RE: Sheet metal question

On the plane above, put some centerlines that are collinear to the edge of the base. Create the flange, then edit the flange sketch. Select one of the corner points and a centerline and create a pierce relationship.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions, I tried both and both worked well.  It just seems that up to plane should be a standard option.  Sounds like a perfect ER.

Thanks again,
