Project Scheduling

Project Scheduling

Project Scheduling

(OP)
Hi guys, I have a small project which must be finished by 56 calendar days, is there anyone who can guide me through preparing the necessary steps to schedule the project? Also is there any difference in preparing for scheduling the project by CPM or Primavera Project Management software?

RE: Project Scheduling

Primavera P3 (or later version P6) and suretrak can develop a CPM schedule for you.

divide the project down in distinct activities (i.e. excavate foundation, install rebar, form foundation, pour foundation) develop a duration for each activity then tie them together depending on their relationships (you have form the foundations before you can pour the foundations)

RE: Project Scheduling

You need to provide some details on the type of project that you are doing if you want someone to help you prepare a schedule.

Gantt Charts are useful for construction project planning.  Gantt Charts of projects indicate common tasks and milestones and the dependencies between them.

The link below has some free Gantt Chart templates for various types of projects:

This Gantt Charts may be adequate for a small project.

thank you jhcpmi,i know that a work breakdown structure should be developed before any scheduling, but it is kind of difficult to understand it while working with Primavera P6. And bimr,it is a great link and it is helpful, thank you.

RE: Project Scheduling

does it have to be in P6?

RE: Project Scheduling

(OP)
no, it does not have to, but i am new to management softwares and i read over the net that primavera is the best among all other softwares, so i try to learn primavera p6.

RE: Project Scheduling
