Trimming Entities

Trimming Entities

Trimming Entities

(OP)
Hello all,

I've been struggling with a simple little part that shouldn't be this difficult. I'm hoping this will be just a simple command that I am missing but none the less.

In the attached part I am trying to delete the piece of extruded circle on what would be the inside of the "L"

Thanks in advance for any help you guys could provide.

RE: Trimming Entities

I have attached the 2010 part. Incase you cant read it, please see below discription.

- L Extrude can be just a surface instead of solid
- If it has to be a solid, please uncheck the Merge result in the extrude command
- Offset a face of the L with a zero dist.
- USe insert -> split & choose the body
- Finally use delete bodies & delete the unwanted bodies

RE: Trimming Entities

1. Select Sketch1 in the feature tree
2. Insert->Cut->Revolve
3. Hit the checkmark.
4. Select the body you want to keep.

RE: Trimming Entities

Handleman's method works if you don't need to keep the "L" flange.  If you do, use Sketch1 and it's Plane to create a new Sketch to cut-revolve the section of tube, leaving the rest.

RE: Trimming Entities

Umm, when I do it, the L flange stays.

RE: Trimming Entities

Guess it depends which way SW picks for the thin feature.  You might have to change the thin feature direction.

RE: Trimming Entities

There's also the option to delete the three faces that form the portion inside the L (using the Delete and Patch option).  Not necessarily the best option for simple geometry like this but this can be extremely useful on irregular geometry.

Thanks guys,

I need to keep the L flange and delete everything on the interior of it.
