Ultimate Tensile Strength, pehaps better known now as just
Tensile Strenght.
In simplistic terms, if for instance a metal rod has an increasing force
applied causing it to stretch, (Tensional Force), when this force reaches its
maximum before the rod breaks, the UTS of the rod material is defined as
maximum force/original x-section of the rod.
