Touch up work on anodizing

Touch up work on anodizing

Dear all,

We have a little hardware that has some scratches, and we would like to do some touch-up work on it. The hardware has a MIL-A-8625F TYPE III Class A hard coat. What is your suggestion?

Many thanks!

RE: Touch up work on anodizing

Would a mil std chemical conversion coat work for your application?  MIL-DTL-5541F is the relevant standard, you'd have to pick the type and class based on your requirements.  It won't be anywhere near as hard wearing but you don't give your requirements.

RE: Touch up work on anodizing

MIL-A-8625F includes the instructions for touch up. See paragraph 3.3.4 Touch UP (mechanical damage and contact marks) in this spec.

RE: Touch up work on anodizing

I would contact the brush plating companies with your problem. I know there are kits for Type I and II. I haven't run across any for Type III.

Many thanks for the responses, I will look after MIL-DTL-5541F. The HW itself is a simple box of an experiment, so the main function is to protect what is inside. Touch-up work mainly would be to have a nicer look.

This is my first time here in this web-page! Kind regards, any many thanks for your help.
