Sorting layer names

Sorting layer names

Sorting layer names

(OP)
I have a problem with one particular drawing. The layer names dont stay sorted when i pull up the layers listing. Any help would be great

RE: Sorting layer names

I'm supposing that you mean sorted by "Name".
Perhaps you previously saved the drawing with an alternate sort condition selected.
Try clicking on the "Name" bar at the top of the column of layers.  That should change the sort order.  Then save the drawing.  Pull it up again and see whether it made a difference.
Clicking the other bars will sort according to their headings.  This is a general Windows-style function and works in Explorer and other explorer-like functions and software (open/save as/find etc).
Hope this helps, or did I misinterpret the problem?

RE: Sorting layer names

Caincad - We exprrienced this same problem and found the solution right here in the Eng-Tips web site. If I understand your problem, the number of layers in your drawing has exceeded the limit set in the "maxsort" systen variable. To get your layers to come up alphabetized, type "maxsort" at the command line and change the default from 200 (I think) to something like 500. This has taken care of 99% of the drawings we have come across.

Good luck. Hope it works for you.
