Removing attributes from items + tip to remove values

Removing attributes from items + tip to remove values

(OP)
Problem:
When you remove an Object Attribute from Intralink, but still have many items referencing this attribute, check-ins give warnings (Attribute not defined in Commonspace, etc).
In Intralink 3.0 2001200 these are overrideable, but the warnings always come up, even next time you check out & in again.

Does anyone know how to remove attributes from the parts, assemblies and drawings?

I've tried opening them, deleting the attributes & then saving & checking in, but the reference to the attribute is still there in the background.
The only way to be sure of removing them is to export out of Intralink, remove them & import again... We don't fancy doing this with several thousand items.

Any help would be appreciated.

Plus, you know how the "Remove" button doesn't work for Object Attribute values? Well I found this way of removing unused attribute values: get hold of a script from PTC which you can run on the data server to remove the specified value. It's handy for cleaning out obsolete values.

Regards
Ed
