RE: LOCATION OF FIRE ALARM PANEL

I believe it depends on whether or not you need "voice evacuation" because of occupancy.  If this is the case, then you'll want to locate it next to the entrance, in case a fire fighter needs to announce something via the speaker/strobe system.  If not, you could locate it elsewhere, but it's probably not practical.  If you have a copy of the NFPA, consult it and make sure the above is correct..

RE: LOCATION OF FIRE ALARM PANEL

My suggestion is to discuss this directly with the local fire marshall.  You will have to do this eventually anyway, and the fire marshall is the "authority having jurisdiction" as far as NFPA interpretation is concerned.

There is often a requirement for a fire alarm annunciator to be located at an outside entrance on larger (taller) buildings.

RE: LOCATION OF FIRE ALARM PANEL

dpc nailed it--regional variations..local customs.

RE: LOCATION OF FIRE ALARM PANEL

Guys,

Just as a mattewr of interest BS5839 (UK) requires location to be in immediate vicinity of entrance. Multiple entrances will require repeater panels.

RE: LOCATION OF FIRE ALARM PANEL

Suggetion: The FACP can be located in different places, depending on buildings, facilities, etc. Could you be more specific? Please, notice that the FACP can have additional subpanels, FAAs, that are usually located in the building entrance. Visit

Also, check the local laws that may be stricter than NFPA.
