1970s Filko electronic ignition lore

1970s Filko electronic ignition lore

(OP)
I have a new old Filko electronic ignition conversion. Filko got bought by Standard parts a decade or so ago.  It was the brand in the green and gold boxes. Anyway, It has a sensor to physically replace the points.  A small metallic bar is potted in a "module" that is to be installed in place of the points and set with a 0.005-0.010 inch gap to the point cam. I'm thinking it may have a hard time referencing a precise location on the curved nose of the points cam lobes, and thus may be kind of sensitive to dist shaft play etc, compared to the nice sharp corner on most other systems reluctors.

Any experiences to relate before I give this a try in a V8 IH scout plow truck?

I have the same concerns about Pertronics.  I suspect they fire reliably but not accurately.  (the ones that use the old cam directly)
