Mesh

Mesh

(OP)
Hi friends
Can any one suggest me a very detailed explanation about the points to be kept in mind while meshing shell elements with beam? I have read somewhere that one should take care while placing beam element perpendicular to shell element even if both the elements have 6 DOF at each of the nodes. I suspect that the drilling DOF would create some problem in this case.
Please if possible suggest any material which covers the method to be taken into consideration while meshing shell with beam.

Thanks in advance

RE: Mesh

You are quite correct about the drilling DOF being a problem.  Without a detailed view of your particular case I don't know how to reply.  However you asked about material.  I would suggest 'A finite element primer' by NAFEMS.  This covers all sorts of senarios - and if you want it, some detailed maths to play with too.

Regards.
