Splines: 939 attributes

Splines: 939 attributes

Splines: 939 attributes

(OP)
I just opened up a part and got an error message:
"Spline Check
 WARNING: Splines with Bad Data Detected.
 Look for splines with SUSPECT939 attribute."

Anyone run across this before?  What does this mean?  How does one determine what / which splines are causing the issue?  ...a fix?

TIA

Regards,
SS

CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?

RE: Splines: 939 attributes

Was this Part imported into NX from some other CAD system?  Or was it a really old Part file created in a version of NX from prior to UG V10.0?  Or was the geometry in this part file created using an NX open application?

Irrespective of any of these, this 'warning' indicates that there is a Spline, to which this Attribute, SUSPECT939, will be attached, which more then likely has a singularity (two coincident knot points which are adjacent to each other).  You can use a Attribute selection filter searching for the String Object Attribute titled 'SUSPECT939'.  The 'value' of this attribute will provide more information about the 'problem' and possible solutions.

Note that the reason I asked those questions at the start of this reply is because it's virtually impossible creating a Spline with a singularity using any of the normal interactive B-Spline creation functions.

John,

I created this part in NX6.0.3.6., Windows XP/64bit.

Care to explain a bit more about how I would: 'You can use a Attribute selection filter searching for the String Object Attribute titled 'SUSPECT939'.'

RE: Splines: 939 attributes

How many Splines do you have in this model and how did you create them?  If you've got so many that it would be hard to check them all manually, try using the Selection filter to move any tagged objects to an Unused Layer.  Below are the steps to do this:

Select...

Format -> Move to Layer...

...when the dialog opens, expand the 'Filters' section and select the 'Attribute Filter' icon.  When the next dialog comes up select the 'User-defined Attributes' button at the bottom.  When the next dialog comes up, set the 'Attribute Type' to 'String' and type into the 'Title' field SUSPECT939 and hit OK and then OK once again taking you to the original Class Selection dialog where all you do is select the 'Select All' icon and hit OK and then enter the number of an used Layer and hit OK once more.  Now just set this Layer to be the Work layer and toggle OFF the visibility of the others and you should be looking at only the Splines with the Attribute SUSPECT939 assigned to it.  To see the value of this Attribute just go to...

Information -> Object...

...select the spline(s) and hit OK and at the bottom of the report for each object selected there will be a report showing the values of each attribute.
