Hi users,
I am using promechanica for linear static analysis of plate and getting result .00027 inch I want to validate it by theoretical calculation beam bending equation(PL^3/3EI) but confused how to derive value of I(second moment of area) from proe because it gives too many values in
Analysis>model>X-section Mass Properties.

Have to agree with Flash on the hand calc...should be simple unless your cross-section is really difficult. Typically, you pick an origin, discretize your cross-section into rectangles or some other known geometry, sum the areas, sum the areas times their associated centroids, sum the individual inertias + Ad^2 terms to move them to your origin, determine the system centroid by dividing the sum of the areas time their centroids by the sum of the areas, and then move the previously calculated inertia back to the system centroid using a -Ad^2 term.
This might be easier if we could see an image of your model and a cross-section.
