Convert entities - can't select all contours

Convert entities - can't select all contours

Convert entities - can't select all contours

(OP)
Hi,

If you have a face with several open & closed contours, then create a sketch on it, select the face then click 'convert entities', why does SW only convert the the open contour(s), and not the closed ones?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

RE: Convert entities - can't select all contours

Usually it just does the outer contour not the inner contours. Do you have an example or a screen shot you can provide?

Yeah, if you have multiple contours (end of a tube, for example) only the outer contour will be converted.

To add the other comments.  Yes, that is the way SolidWorks designed it to work.  smile

RE: Convert entities - can't select all contours

Yes, SolidWorks does convert outer most loop when you covert by clicking on a face but....

There is another way, not exactly what you want or may be........

select the face & also select one of the edges you want to convert(from inner or closed loop).......then click convert.......this way you can select which contour you want to convert from a given face.......

Hope this helps....

Pick the face and then the edge of an interior contour and you will get that interior contour to convert.
