6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

I have some ULS M300 lasers. They use a wheel on the bearings that ride inside a 5.5mm grove. The dims are 6mm x 13.75mm. I'm building a linear slide table from miniature "T-slots" equivalent and want to find a source for these bearings. Trouble is I can't get through the noise with google. I don't know what they are called. Please help.

Hate to say it, but I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're looking for based on your description.

However, on the bottom right of this page:

http://medias.ina.de/medias//hp?lang=en

click on the link that says "Bearing Selection"  This may not get you what you need, but it may be at least able to tell you what the product is that you're looking for.

Engineering is not the science behind building.  It is the science behind not building.

Let me try this again.

It's not just a bearing, but an injection molded part. Best description is it's a plastic wheel that rides in a grove. The wheel fits over a bearing. I was able to find them online, but they are very expensive. Thanks but the links provided are just for the bearings.

Here are some images that may be helpful. The top image is a similar part from one of my lasers.

The image below is a closeup of what I'm trying to do.

The image below is the final goal.

Any help? Please post. Thanks, Jim

Is there a better forum I should be posting at?

RE: 6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

No I don't think so not everyone looks at the site regularly.
Your wheels, in the first picture, are different from the normal guide wheels as yours are convex and you normally are bearing guide wheels that are concave with two or three V-grooves.
I have 4 print brochures that have bearing guide wheels and none are convex.
I checked a couple of sites that carry bearing guide wheels and they don't have anything but the normal V configuration.

RE: 6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

I just called a machine design buddy of mine with a lots of experience in positioning devices.

His first answer was to contact the maker of the guide rail.  We had a little discussion and we both agreed that the only place we had seen this type wheel was on top end bypass panels running in a concave track.

The image is of my universal laser. I can get the parts from them, but they are really expensive. Like $18.00 each... I can get the bearings for $0.25 each, so I'm having a little trouble swallowing the $17.75 for an injection molded wheel...

Not sure what you mean by the concave/convex thing. It's a stupid round wheel over a stupid cheap ball bearing. LOL Sigh... I appreciate the replies.

RE: 6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

It is my error in stating the wheel was a particular shape as it appeared to me with a old monitor and older eyes.

If it is a round wheel with a bearing like a skate wheel with a flat rolling surface I think you will get more help.

RE: 6mm x 13.75mm bearing in laser gantry.

$18.00 each ... try making one for less money!
