Does anyone know if its possible to put more than one RESET push button on an E-Stop circuit? And which safety agency regulates this issue?

RE: Quantity of Emergency Stop Reset Operators

Wow, what an impossible question.  There are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of safety agencies that might regulate such an issue depending on what and where.

On the other hand, I've never run into any problem having multiple push-pull switches in an EPO circuit.  Using push-pull switches each on functions as a reset.

RE: Quantity of Emergency Stop Reset Operators

If you are using a Safety Relay, it depends upon the capabilities of the relay in question. Most have a limit of the number of contacts, in series, that you can implement because of issues with voltage drop. The highest number I have seen is 16, but honestly, most are 2 or 3 in each relay. But a number of mfrs now offer modular relay systems, so you can "stack" relays into an overall evaluation unit and have a lot more possibilities.

A better approach may be to determine how many you need, then go through a Safety Evaluation process that will determine the appropriateness of your application.

As to what agencies? That totally depends on where you are. If you are in the US, it will also depend on the type of work you are doing: i.e. machine tool, robot, mining conveyor etc. My ability to read your mind has been diminished by the excessive egg nog...
