Import Quattro Pro (DOS) into Excel 2007

I just got "upgraded" from the 2000 version to Excel 2007 and there are no converters for Quattro Pro (DOS). Help?

Is there an easy way to install 2 versions of Excel on the same machine?

RE: Import Quattro Pro (DOS) into Excel 2007

See the thread in this forum about Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 on the same machine, if you have not done so already.  I think it can be done.

SNORGY.

These are old ones that I haven't converted yet. Some have macros that won't be converted. In the past, I would convert one as I had the time and needed it.

Plan B might be to install quattro pro for windows, then export them as some earlier excel version, or as wb1.

I can't remember where to get Quattro for windows, Lotus or IBm spring to mind.

Greg - Borland were the sworn enemies of Lotus/IBM!  Quattro Pro is/was part of the Corel Office Suite, but I don't know if this is still available.

I'm pretty sure that Open Office and Gnumeric will open old Quattro Pro files, but in answer to the original question, yes it is possible to have XL 2007 + an earlier version installed on the same computer.

Thanks everyone,

I checked out Open Office and Gnumeric. They will open a few windows versions of Quattro Pro files, but not the DOS version.

Two versions of Excel would require uninstalling MS Office, installing the old version, reinstalling MS Office 2007 and reconfiguring all of my settings.

I remembered that I have Excel 2000 at home and I think that I will just take the files home and use Excel to convert the files. Any macros will just become useless text and I may try to jump into recording a macro in Excel 2007 if I feel the need.

RE: Import Quattro Pro (DOS) into Excel 2007

I had the same issue a month or 2 ago.  Here is what worked for me:  I downloaded the 30 day trial version (free) of Correl Office Suite with the latest Quattro Pro and installed it.  The new Quattro Pro will open old QPRO-DOS spreadsheets.  Save the old sheets in Excel format.  Open the sheets and work with them in Excel.

If you get all your old Qpro-DOS files ready to go, you should be able to do the conversions in 30 days.  Make sure you get all the old sheets done.
