Mastercam errors

Mastercam errors

I may be going blind, but I don't see a Mastercam or CAM forum here.
When I send my SolidWorks models to our programmer/machinist, he sometimes runs into errors using vX2. But, Mastercam does not show where the errors are...so I don't know which features to fix.
He uses v9 at home and he says it does show him the errors.
Is there a setting for X2 to show these errors?

RE: Mastercam errors

R u sending the native SolidWorks file or Iges/parasolid to MasterCAM?

I am out of touch of this machining thing for 2-3 years now but we used to send the models in IGES. When saving the Solidworks file into IGES go to option & choose the MasterCAM from the surface representation drop down list.

We tried various formats but this was the one with least trouble.

From my experience there iS nothing u can/should fix in model as it is the software reading the file which makes the errors in reading not SolidWorks. the same file when opened in DelCAM may not have any errors.

Sorry, forgot to mention.
The programmer only wants parasolids. I don't think he is 100% confident with CNC programming, but he is what we have.
Thanks CBL, I will check it out.

I have never been a programmer, but I have worked with machinists in the past using CAMWorks. We have 'never' had any problems using SW models directly with with CW.
