filling up closed water loop

filling up closed water loop

(OP)
Dear all, a few questions

1.Suppose a closed cooling water loop with an expansion tank at the suction side of the pump. When does one opt for a closed expansion tank without bladder, and when for one with bladder? If without bladder, do I prefill the tank one time with nitrogen, or do I have to install a pressure control system on the tank?

2.where to install the make-up water system. Is this pressure controlled feeding into the system when the pressure is too low? And where best to locate the make up system.  Can I feed in make-up water based on level control in the expansion tank, without pressure control of the make-up water

thanks

RE: filling up closed water loop

Open tanks(without bladder) are no longer common. MUW connections are usually found on the tank connection line. Bladders are charged with 2/3 to 3/3 of static fill pressure prior to system fill. Fill pressure is usually 12 to 15 psi at highest point.
